I know you have questions and I'm here to help...

I understand you may be worried about celebrating this year with those you love—together in one space—with everything going on in our world. To help give you some security, I am offering complete flexibility on your 2020 booking. I am wholeheartedly grateful to each of you for keeping me onboard as we move into 2021.

Here are your options:

• Move your booking to 2021. I am offering flexibility for each of my 2020 couples rescheduling. Please just keep me posted on tentative, venue-confirmed future dates so I can check my availability, before choosing one! I have booked a decent number of my peak, ideal weekend dates for 2021 with other couples (current & new).

The competition for 2021 dates is double, as you are competing for calendar dates against other couples booking peak dates—namely Saturdays in Spring thru Fall 2021. Fridays & Sundays allow more flexibility for myself and any of your other handpicked or top priority vendors, so if you're open to those alternatives, it can definitely open up availability for me and others! :)

• Keep your physical ceremony & reception on schedule.
If your physical wedding venue & date have not been mandatorily shut down by local or state regulations and you want to keep your wedding on schedule as is, you don’t have to do anything at this time.

As of mid-August, most of my 2020 weddings have moved to 2021. Those choosing to continue with theirs this year are doing so with considerably reduced guest counts, social distancing & sanitation measures implemented.

• Let's dance together remotely with a SONGSTRUCK Virtual Dance Party Package!!

I'm offering all of my rescheduling couples a virtual happy hour / dance party via Zoom for their original wedding day (or another date TBD) as a chance to connect & escape through music for a bit. I want you two to have some curated vibes to feel awesome even in these unusual circumstances.
Here's what you'll get:

  • 🎶 Up to 3 Hours DJ performance mixed live on turntables, from my heart & home to yours!

  • 🌐 Zoom virtual platform for up to 100 people—anyone you want to bring into your original wedding day.

  • 🔊 High-quality streaming setup for clear audio & video

  • 💃🏻 Dance party lighting @ my house as we up the vibes & energy!

  • ❤️ Those feel-good vibes knowing you're supporting my small business & passion-filled career in these trying times! 🙌🏼

• No matter what, I'm here for you. If you are in any way concerned about your wedding and would like to discuss your postponement & rescheduling options, please email me at drew@songstruckdj.com or call me at 858 752 1830 and I’ll be happy to help. It'll be nice to hear your voices! :)

ALSO! I’ll be livestreaming some DJ performances for you to enjoy / dance your @ss off via Mixcloud Live™ soon. I'll post the link & schedule here and on my website when ready.

FAQs

When should we make the call to reschedule?

The best answer at this time: 30-45 days from your original wedding date, or as determined by the venue, or the Reopening Phases. In my research-based opinion, I would prefer for couples to decide at least 4-6 weeks prior, as we wait for new announcements from government agencies regarding the safety and legality of weddings & gatherings.

I have been closely following news and developments surrounding this pandemic, from local regulations and restriction plans to the study of virology science and emerging scientific data (I'm a bit of a science geek).

Based on model estimations of virus spread, this pandemic may cause periodic, rolling government (state & local) shutdowns, gathering or reopening restrictions well into 2021. This means wedding dates, even months away, may be subject to rescheduling based on how well we control the spread.

For my local SoCal wedding couples, I sincerely hope that Phase 4 of California's reopening plan (which is likely when small gatherings like wedding receptions will be cleared) occurs sooner than December.

For my U.S. destination wedding couples, I can still fly to your states at the moment, so it's up to you.

Travel is cautionary to most, which further hampers efforts to keep current 2020 wedding dates in place without seriously cutting back on the expected attendance numbers of loved ones.

When should we reschedule to?

I'd recommend a minimum of Winter or Spring 2021. As of now, the bulk of my Summer & Fall 2021 dates are booked, but I have select dates still available lots open in December ‘20 through March ‘21. This will also allow ample time for reopening of the parts of our economy that enable a wedding to occur. Please check with me for any tentative dates!

What steps should I take in rescheduling?

  1. Check with your venue about their policies & allowances, considering other seasons if they're pretty booked up. If you're flexible with days, Fridays & Sundays are generally more available for your primary, handpicked vendors.

    • OR— If your original venue doesn't have a suitable date, you could consider choosing another venue altogether. Many venues have reached out to vendors like myself, offering additional availability for our clients if necessary. I'm happy to offer some suggested venues!

  2. Reach out to your primary, handpicked vendors with tentative reschedule dates. Typically myself, your photographer, coordinator, and any other top priorities for the move.

  3. When you've heard back with the best options, decide.

What if we want to party on our original wedding date? Are you still available for something virtual?

Let's talk! It really depends on the updated logistics, policies, and health & safety realities. Most likely YES, although I've been doing some virtual dance parties for hire, including birthdays, happy hours, or just for funsies. Call me: 858 752 1830.

How are you doing, Drew?

I'm well, relatively speaking. I am not on the frontlines battling this pandemic. I am surrounded by love and support, still able to withstand the current decimation of my entire business, and thankfully have my full health, so I'm grateful for these realities.

That said, it's been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me, just like so many other creative souls within the world of events.

EMOTIONAL BURNOUT IS REAL.

My small business—which has been my entire livelihood and professional musical career for the last 6 years, and a passion project based on DJ-ing weddings for 19 years(!!!)—has been completely DEVASTATED by the rescheduling and cancellations of so many of my couples’ celebrations, plus the loss of some amazing potential new 2021 couples due to booking several of my peak future dates as necessary for my affected ‘20 couples.

I am blessed and honored to be referred to new couples by my amazing past & present clients and industry colleagues, so that helps offset the current business challenges I face. I will do whatever it takes to remain in business through this national health crisis, despite a lack of political support for the arts & events industries (read: few, if any, lobbyists in place).

Did you know?

The 2019 U.S. arts & events industries accounted for a higher annual GDP than both transportation and agriculture combined!

I hope to make it through this craziness with my business, and my resolve, stronger than ever.

❤️🔥🎉 All I know is…
2021 is gonna be L I T
🎉🔥❤️

I am grateful to those of you who've reached out via Instagram or Facebook to say “hi” and check in. We will dance again soon enough. If you know anyone who could use a rad DJ for 2022, please keep me in mind. :)

Will there be any fees involved in rescheduling?

I am waiving rescheduling fees as a courtesy to all of my amazing couples. However, many of my couples are making their future payments down early (while rescheduling) to help me offset the burden. I never request that incredible gesture, but I am sooo grateful for your empathy and all assistance from the heart during this time.

What are the details regarding final payment(s)?

Final balance is due 30 days prior to your new wedding date, but as mentioned above, you may make additional payments towards your celebration when we book a new date. :)

What about our initial payment to you?

Your initial payment was used for reserving my future availability for a specific calendar date, turning away all other business opportunities or engagements for your specific date. Additionally, there are various administrative and service costs associated with client onboarding and relationship management, as well as operational-, performace-, & equipment-related expenses. This booking fee remains non-refundable.

You've invested in a trust-based relationship with an award-winning musical artist, wedding expert, and small business owner. I've been severely impacted by this pandemic, but this is my profession and I'll do whatever it takes to see that I rock your celebration through in glorious style when it comes time!

Can we do a virtual wedding / dance party with you?

Yes, please!!! Couples love it! I have great audio options to be able to bring the party completely virtually to any and all the people you wish to share that moment with, as well as some dance party lighting. I can provide you a 100-person Zoom™ platform in which to host your wedding / dance party as well. We can do this as an add-on pre-wedding virtual party for 300.

What if we decide to cancel our wedding outright?

I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it would feel having to reach this decision after exhausting all other means of continuing your celebration down the road. Just know that I want to help you in any way I can to prevent this, because I know how much this day means for your life journey together.

  1. If your wedding date was shut down by state or local government mandates surrounding the pandemic, I completely understand. I'd strongly recommend going through the steps of rescheduling outlined at the beginning of this FAQ. Should that become an impossible task, I am happily converting your initial payment into a credit for future mobile DJ services, and will waive any remaining balance owed for your cancelled event as a gesture of good faith. We can just party together down the road!

  2. If you are canceling your wedding voluntarily as a pre-emptive measure, please let me know by emailing me at drew@songstruckdj.com right away, and I will send over a cancellation form and next steps.

  3. Lastly, if you decide to have your wedding in another city, state, or country down the road instead of your original location, I would love to fly out to your party!!! Seriously. Just let me know which dates so I can check my availability.
